Studio Etiquette

The following guidelines are meant to enhance your experience and help create a safe space for everyone.

For you:

Be mindful of what you eat. It is recommended that you not eat for at least three hours before taking a class. If you have a special condition that prevents this, consider eating easily digested foods (fruits or yogurt) one hour before class.

Please follow class instructions. Our instructors are trained to safely guide you through various yoga postures and other exercises that promote health and well-being. Failure to follow instructions may lead to injury or feelings of frustration. Please mention any pre-existing injury or special condition(s) to your instructor at the beginning of class so that s/he can provide you with alternative exercises that will help you achieve your goals.

Our studio is supportive. Think of our studio as a safe, nurturing place where you can learn to be in your body while educating yourself about your body. Students learn at their own pace and are never pressured to do more than what feels comfortable. Therefore, please keep full attention on yourself by accepting where you are in your process. Rest when you need to. Listen to your body. If you feel you are not able to do a certain pose, rest and allow yourself to progress at your own pace to ensure your safety and comfort.

In consideration of others:

Please do not bring cell phones, electronic equipment or personal belongings into the studio.

Please refrain from wearing perfume; fragrance, cigarette smoke or body odor can be overwhelming to others.

Please arrive a few minutes early for class. Not only will this ensure you a place in class, it will allow you to relax, settle in, and ground yourself for that day’s practice. Being late to class can be extremely disruptive to fellow students and the instructor. In addition, you may miss information that will keep you safe and comfortable in class.

Be silent upon entering the studio. Your practice begins when you enter the studio. Meditate, stretch, mentally prepare for class, but please refrain from talking or socializing. Our lobby gives you plenty of space to socialize.
